This is the headline of a piece I wrote for the April 2014 issue of Tatler. It is about the kind of old-school nanny who has raised seven dukes, 15 earls, a few lords and taught them all to eat their crusts and ‘go’ before breakfast. It also talks about my stepmother’s wonderful and much-missed nanny, Shirley Smith, who sadly died in June. She was the very best of eggs.
