Moving to Substack…

Do you know what Substack is? Lots of people don’t. It’s huge in the States and growing here pretty fast. It’s a website, essentially, which allows anyone who signs up a platform to write about, well, whatever they like really. Journalists post stories; chefs post recipes; fashion sorts post pictures from fashion shows; Stephen Fry posts musings about his childhood and so on. It’s as if blogging (remember blogs?) is back.

I’ve been mulling over writing a weekly newsletter there for AGES. Various journalists I admire (India Knight, Clover Stroud, Farrah Storr and Jo Elvin to name but a FEW) have Substack newsletters, but I’ve been slightly dragging my feet. Partly nerves, partly idleness. But I’ve finally braved it and am launching mine tomorrow (27 Feb). I will continue to post the odd thing on here, but will be mostly writing weekly witterings about the ups and downs of life and recommendations over there. It’ll be free for a bit to entice you all in and then most people start charging for their more ‘premium content’, but only a relatively small amount. I’m still very much working out how to use it…

My newsletter is called Onwards and Sideways! which is an expression I’ve borrowed from Mum, and we use often, almost on a daily basis, and you can find it HERE and sign up so you’re alerted when I’ve written a new post.
