Did You Miss Me?
Ah, first love. For most of my teenage years, I was pathetically besotted with the same boy. Because I was at a girls’ boarding school, he was basically the only boy I knew who I wasn’t related to and it was entirely unrequited but I loved him anyway. So that utter devotion and a sense of teenage nostalgia is what I wanted to capture in this book, published in 2021.
Heroine Nell is a very successful family lawyer who lives in London with her long-term (very boring) boyfriend Gus. But when the father of her first love dies, she has to return home to Northumberland for his funeral and they come face-to-face for the first time in 15 years. Will she forgive him for breaking her heart? Will they ever be friends again? WILL THEY ACTUALLY DO GET TO DO IT? And can Nell ever forgive her mother for running off with an Italian barista called Luigi? Lots of life’s big questions here.
